About the studio

A services company that became a product studio

KeevaathTech designs, builds and operates software platforms, and takes client work in the same disciplines it uses to build its own.

The turn

Keevaath LLC was established in August 2014 as a services business, and has traded as KeevaathTech since April 2022. The move from services into products was deliberate and it took years.

Building platforms with our own money, on our own timeline, taught things client work alone does not. What a support queue does to a roadmap. What a migration costs when there is nobody to hand it to. How quickly a product built for one market stops working when it has to serve several.

We kept the client practice because the two feed each other. The products keep our judgment honest, and the client work funds building products properly.

Leadership

Jayashri Prasanan, Principal and Owner of Keevaath LLC

Jayashri Prasanan

Principal and Owner · Chief Executive Officer · Chief Product Officer

Jayashri joined as Chief Operating Officer in August 2015 and became Chief Executive Officer in October 2017. She works across the front of the product lifecycle, from opportunity framing and definition through delivery and go to market.

Her first products came before the studio did. Between 2016 and 2019 she designed and shipped four applications, published free on the Apple and Google stores, covering nursing home search, elder care, education and hospital resources. They were built to be useful, not to be sold. Working out why the reception fell short taught more about definition and distribution than the building had.

Why the client practice stayed

Operating our own platforms produces a specific kind of knowledge. Not how to build something, which anybody can learn, but what it costs to keep it working once real people depend on it. Support load reshapes a roadmap. A migration behaves differently when there is nobody to hand it to. A product built for one market fails in ways nobody predicted the moment it has to serve several.

That knowledge is what a client is buying, and it is only available to a firm that carries the consequences of its own decisions. So the two practices stayed together deliberately: the platforms keep our judgment honest, and the client work funds building platforms without shortcuts.

The four things this actually changed about how we work are set out on the home page, and the account of two occasions when we got it badly wrong is in The Build Log.

Where we are

Leesburg, Virginia. Part of our delivery capacity works Indian Standard Time, which gives roughly four to five hours of daily overlap with United States Eastern.

We say no more often than most firms. If we think something should not be built, or should be built by somebody else, we say so early, while it is still cheap to hear.

Questions we are asked

How large is the team?

Small at the core, and it scales to the engagement. A named owner here runs every piece of work and reviews everything before it reaches you, and specialists join matched to the problem. We publish the overlap hours because that is the first thing worth knowing.

Is Jayashri the founder?

No. Keevaath LLC was established in August 2014. She joined as Chief Operating Officer in August 2015 and became Chief Executive Officer in October 2017.

Why keep client work if you have your own products?

Because each one improves the other. Operating our own platforms keeps our judgment honest about what actually breaks after launch, and client work funds building products without shortcuts.

Do you work with clients outside the United States?

Yes. Multi-market and multi-language work is the part of this we have done twice in production, and it is where we are most useful.

Tell us what you are building.

Send the shape of the problem: scope, timeline and constraints. We will read it properly and tell you whether we are the right team for it.
